HALF DAY Kwamashu/Inanda Township – R850pp (Departure approx 09h00/13h00) Duration: 3 – 4 hours Just outside the city we find the local settlement of Kwamashu, which is steeped in history and culture. We visit one of the sections, to take a short walk and interact with the locals. Time permitting, we visit the Phoenix settlement where Mahatma Gandhi developed his philosophy of passive resistance. FULL DAY Kwamashu/Inanda/Gandhi – R1450pp (Departure approx 09h00) Duration: 6 – 8 hours The tour covers what the half day tour covers, but also include a visit to Cato Manor, the first area from which African’s and Indians where forcibly removed and relocated to “Townships”. We stop for a traditional shisanyama lunch at one of the butcheries. Time permitting, we either visit the Ohlange Institute, where President Mandela cast his vote in South Africa’s first democratic elections in 1994; or one of the local orphanages, for an interaction with the orphans and caregivers.
